Directions to the Salem Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery

Hwy 22 runs East to West between Rock Mills, and Roanoke, Alabama.
Hwy 431 is North to South between Roanoke, and Welch Community in East Alabama.
In these views, HWY 431 is to your left, Hwy 22 at the top (North), and Bacon Level is at the bottom.

Salem Primitive Baptist Church was northeast on County Road #607...
follow the (607) to the right, and up (in this view)
{Without going to Rock Mills, or Bacon Level}

From HWY431 turn right on Bud Cummins Road.
It crosses a RR Track, and splits (where this view has 680)
Follow the right hand split to go to Bacon Level,
Follow the left hand split to go to 18, and come-in the back way
to the Salem Primitive Church Cemetery.  From the split in the road,
go forward, until you cannot go forward,  turn right, then left on to a dirt road.
If you reach a paved road, look left, and that is where the church was.
(But, you would have gone too far!)
The Cemetery is up the embankment on the side of the road on
your left (if you have come in the back way.)

The Salem Primitive Baptist Church is no longer in existence. The congregation disbanded in
the early 1900's, and joined neighboring churches at Mt. Pisgah and Lanett. The cemetery is
about 100 feet from a dirt road leading to the former site of the church building. It is
surrounded by a fence and is fairly-well maintained, although many of the markers are illegible
after years of exposure to the elements.


ARNETT, Argent Veal - (29 Nov 1831, Hancock County, GA - 4 Feb 1890), daughter of James H. Veal
& Margaret E. Miller, wife of Richmond A. Arnett. She came to Chambers County with her
grandfather William Miller in 1848, and joined this congregation in 1849.

ARNETT, Delila A. McDonald - (6 Oct 1861 - 29 Jul 1884), daughter of A.L. & Sarah Elizabeth
McDonald, wife of John M. Arnett. Baptized here by Rev. J.W.H. Clyett on the second Sunday in
October, 1882.

ARNETT, Edmond Green - (5 Feb 1826 - 20 Sep 1883), son of Jesse & Martha, husband of Mary.

ARNETT, Elbert Cephus - (10 Feb 1871 - 5 Aug 1910), son of Jesse & Martha..

ARNETT, Infant. (1884) stillborn child of John and Delila.

ARNETT, James Emory - (29 Aug 1867 - 24 Dec 1867), son of Jesse T. & Sarah.

ARNETT, Jesse - (8 Oct 1796 - 12 Nov 1886), husband of Martha.

ARNETT, Jesse Thomas - (20 Jun 1831 - 5 Sep 1908), joined this church 9 Aug 1857. Son of Jesse
and Martha, husband of Sarah.

ARNETT, John Morrow - (16 Apr 1859 - 23 Jul 1907), son of Jesse T. and Sarah. Husband of
Delila.

ARNETT, Martha Jane Robertson - (29 Aug 1798 - 7 Mar 1881), wife of Jesse.

ARNETT, Mary Ann Mayfield - (6 May 1831 - 3 Sep 1882), wife of Edmond, joined this church 12
Aug 1849.
